National Pony Society Registration Update – do you need a passport for your pony?
After working closely with DEFRA on updates to equine passport requirements, we are pleased to confirm that the updates to the NPS passport issuing procedures have been approved.
This means for breeders that we can continue to register a wide range of ponies. In the majority of cases these passports will be fully compliant Zootech breeding passports in line with DEFRA requirements.
The British Riding Pony Studbook includes ponies containing TB, Arab and Mountain & Moorland blood, in addition to the Sports category for ponies with other performance bloodlines. Please email studbook@nationalponysociety.com to find out if we can help you.
DEFRA has also confirmed that if your pony is a part bred Mountain & Moorland or Arab, other breed societies will still be able to overstamp your NPS passport, allowing your pony to compete in part-bred showing classes.
